This album was done as part of our final year project for school. The project title, Familiar Emotions, implies that the emotions we are trying to convey in these songs may not be directly relatable, but there are bound to be similar situations in a person’s life that would make it familiar. Such as the loss of a loved one like a parent, may be relatable to a child in the form of the loss of a dog, or perhaps even a friend moving away.
The inspiration for Familiar Emotions came from The Kübler-Ross Model, or better known as the five stages of grief, introduced by Swiss psychiatrist Elizabeth Kübler-Ross in her book from 1969 titled On Death and Dying.
We chose this topic because we believe that our album should not only be a collection of songs in similar style, but should be something more , to express our emotions in the way we know best, to allow the listeners to flow with the whole album and perhaps try to submerge themselves into the emotions we express, to find new or hidden feelings within themselves.
